The Horticulture Mission for North East & Himalayan States (HMNEH) is a part of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme, launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The mission aims to foster the overall development of horticulture in the North Eastern states, including Sikkim, and the Himalayan states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Enhance Productivity: Improve the productivity and quality of horticultural produce.
Support Farmers: Provide support to marginal and small farmers.
Promote Sustainable Practices: Upscale protected cultivation and drip irrigation.
Market Development: Improve marketability and marketing support for horticultural products.
Training and Awareness Programs: To educate farmers on best practices.
Subsidies on Inputs: Financial assistance for purchasing quality planting materials and other inputs.
Technology Support: Assistance in adopting modern horticultural techniques.
The scheme is implemented by the state government in collaboration with the central government. It covers the entire spectrum of horticulture from production to consumption through backward and forward linkages.
